Pizza on lebanese bread...quick & easy!

LOVE this. This is the ultimate quick & easy pizza!

- Put some BBQ/Tomatoe sauce on the bread
- A handful of diced ham
- Baby spinach leaves
- Pitted olives
- 2-3 small scoops of greek style yogurt
- A handful of grated cheese

Pop it under the grill for 5-10min or until the cheese is melted and the bread is slightly crispy.

Voila. So easy! I can usually eat 3/4 of the pizza easily so I'd say this serves 1.

If you can't find lebanese bread then you can use any sort of wrap.

- purple sheet of cardstock
- pack of 5inch doilies i found on ebay

Banana, Berry & Chia Smoothie

I've been going a little crazy with smoothies lately! My stick blender is amazing! Hardly any cleaning and it encourages me to make these healthy smoothies.

Banana, Berry & Chia Smoothie is my favourite so far. A glass for me & a small glass for the little guy. He loves it!

I throw everything into the cup that comes with the blender, and in 20 seconds my smoothie is ready to go!

- 1 x banana
- 1/2 cup milk
- a handful of frozen mixed berries
- 1 spoon honey
- 2 tbsp natural yoghurt
- 1 tbsp Chia seeds

I usually place around with the ingredients. Sometimes I substitute linseed for chia. Other times I add a spoon of cacao powder. If I am not up for too much milk I use fresh apple juice instead of the milk. At times I add a wheatgrass shot. I tend to just go with it, whatever I throw in works. It always seems to taste great. Just don't overdo it with the Chia or linseed, the seeds absorb water and expand which is the full feeling you get afterwards. So healthy, fills up the tummy and prevents snacking between meals.

Here are some of the products I add;

If you come up with any awesome smoothies please share  =)

Technology & Chalk Boards

On Monday my internet was not working... ALL DAY! It was amazing how many things I got done and by the end of the day I was just sitting there looking around thinking "wow, this place is spotless, what do I do now?" Ok, so I have my priorities and I do the things I need to before I surf the web but for some, especially teenagers, limitations need to be put in place. I love this (below). Great idea. Change the internet password and only allow kids to access the web when they've done what is required of them...homework, chores etc

I've been staying at my parents place for the week and it's been a nice change. In 4 days, this is my first time on the computer. I've been sewing, cooking and taking the kids to beautiful parks. I want to take advantage of my dads handy man skills and get him to make a board for me and then paint it with chalkboard paint. This is my inspiration....

I'd also love a board to hang off the front door. No excuses for forgetting anything when walking out the door =)

Does anyone remember the good old chalkboard days in school? (as opposed to white boards and smart boards). Remember how people would get their nails run them along the board, making that screeching noise? *shudder* That was the worst.

Another few days of sewing and I'll hopefully have a bunch of premmie gowns ready to donate to the NICU.

Kids Artwork

I wish my parents had saved my artwork as a child. I think it would have been great to look back on.

I've been saving D's artwork and putting it in our Project Life album. Becky Higgins just released new plastic inserts that make this really easy. Just cut the artwork to size and it's forever safe in your album =)

This is the first time D painted. I set it up for him by painting a stick figure and he added the eyes, ears, hands, arms etc.. Only a few weeks later he was painting his own stick figures so he has made some great progress. I used a Becky Higgins 12in x 12in insert to store this in our album.

There are a variety of inserts available in different sizes to cater for different sized drawings, paintings and photos. WeRMemoryKeepers also have a variety of plastic sleeves available.

If you prefer digital books Liz Tamanaha from Paislee Press has created an amazing template in Shutterfly. All you have to do if photograph or scan the artwork and create a photobook. Here is an example of the album she created. I love, love, love it!

You can see the rest here.

On another note, I am now on Pinterest so you can follow me here. It's getting a little addictive, so many inspiring photos out there.

Pancake recipe

Yesterday I made this pancake recipe, given to me by my sister:

Hubby wanted his with maple syrup drizzled all over....

I prefer to put Nutella in the layers, a scoop of ice-cream on top and some strawberries. Can't go wrong. I ate it before I could photograph it. Shame on me ;-)

Hope you enjoy making these...they taste great!!

Baby J's first doll. It's already a hit, gets dragged around everywhere by little D. I've had to put the doll (no name yet) in storage as I don't want him trashing it. The doll is handmade and created by my very talented sister. She is the creative genius in the family, I just follow along...copying ideas and trying to get involved. Ha.

The weather has turned sour and today was extremely cold and windy. We ventured out, but only to the clinic for Baby J's check up. She is 6 months old tomorrow, or 3 months corrected age. Her pediatrican suggested we start solids between 4-6 months corrected, but if she is showing signs of interest then we can start a little earlier. Today she had her first solids, boiled pumpkin.

Of course, she only had one spoonful but it would be strange if I just boiled a 1cm x 1xm cube of pumpkin!!

Maybe you're wondering why I posted a photo of the plate and not Baby J? Well, I don't feel that I have the right to put her out there. She might turn around in 15 years time and say "Mum, why did you plaster my photos all over the internet?" The same goes with little D. They are too young to have a voice now, and it will be that way for some time. But perhaps in months to come I will change my mind....

Another highlight of my day. I got up to get a spoon from the drawer and this is what I find...

Always surprising me! Little D was playing with the cans while I was cooking and I turned to find them all gone. Good boy, he put them back, I thought. It's little things like this that make me laugh out loud. Simple things that make me happy.

I'm hoping the weather picks up this weekend. The coastal walk awaits.....

Soaking up the Winter sun

I'm not kidding when I say that half of the people I know have gone to Europe on holidays! It's not easy to look at their Facebook status updates and photos, tanned glowing skin and relaxed body language.

The next best thing is to soak up the Winter sun at none other than our nearest beach, Cronulla. The sun was shining bright today and there was no need for jumpers or jackets. Hooray!

There is a beautiful ocean walk that goes from Cronulla beach right around to South Cronulla.

This is what I love about Australia. Quite often we experience spectacular Winter weather (today was a perfect 19 degrees). No snow gear, fur coats or wool-lined boots. Just fish & chips, long beach walks and Boysenberry ice-cream.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Winter buys

I didn't really want to update my Winter wardrobe as I don't get out often and was waiting for the new Spring/Summer collections to start appearing in stores but then I found a fair few bargains and couldn't resist.

I prefer not to follow trends, but to stick to basics and then update with accessories here & there. I also make sure everything I wear is child friendly - I don't want ridiculous clevage showing (especially since they are a milk production factory at the moment), low cut jeans that reveal too much when I bend down chasing a toddler or skirts that are way too short. I think you can look trendy and classy without revealing too much.

My favourite stores at the moment are Witchery for basics and Mimco for accessories. Both stores are rather expensive for the average one income family so I normally wait for sales.

Here are a few items I purchased over the past few weeks. I also bought black ponte pants and another knit but they're in the wash and so I couldn't include them here.

The scarf and bag (it's a make up bag) on the left as well as the boots are from Mimco. I am in love with these boots. They are extremely comfortable and are still on sale at the moment. The rest - the knit, necklace, jeans and printed scarf are from Witchery. All classic pieces that I can wear into Spring on colder days and next Autumn/Winter also. Witchery went a little crazy with their sales last month (I assume to increase sales for end of financial year) so most of the things I bought were either half price or 30% off.

Can't wait for the warmer weather and to start updating my Spring/Summer wardrobe.

Fifty Shades of Grey!

Being a mum can be stressful. I don't know how you like to de-stress but I find throwing myself into a good book is the best way to relax.

50 Shades of Grey. A must read! Although it is poorly written and has a fair bit of repetitive, erotic ficton, it's quite addictive. I really enjoyed these books and read them within a week. The house work built up a little but it was a nice little escape from the craziness of a newborn small baby and toddler. I love trashy reads like these! It's the fastest selling paperback of all time and Universal Pictures has secured the movie rights.

I can't wait to see who plays Christian Grey. I think Matt Bomer would make the perfect 'Christian Grey'.

The books are quite addictive. KMart sells them for $10 each. Happy reading!

I'm now on to another best seller, The House on Willow Street.

Have you read the Fifty Shades trilogy? What did you think?

Personalised baby name print

I made this frame for a friend's little girl. I prefer a minimalist style and it's reflected in this design. I hope she likes it. I'm going to work on a few more designs to include as birthday gifts. We have so many birthdays coming up. September to January is crazy birthday season!

I chose to do a smaller frame as I think this type of baby art would be best suited for shelving and not on a wall. The frame is a 5x7 and when you include the border it makes the print a 4x6.

I love the tones. There are so many styles of baby art around but I think the tones and simplicity of the above print ensure it won't date and you can easily leave this in a growing child's room.

I think this frame would be best suited on shelving, something like this:
